As we set out to embark on our next great adventure the feeling is bittersweet as we say goodbye to family and friends from the Northwest. We spent our last weekend, the fourth of July weekend, keeping very busy. We had a BBQ and an early birthday party for the girls, who have birthday's in August. It was heartbreaking watching Grandma Karen and Grandpa Bob say goodbye to the kids and even more heartbreaking as we left and the kids were in tears. We are very excited about this next chapter in our lives but it is also hard to go from seeing those you love every day to not for a while. We are not quite sure when we will be back in the Northwest but we have FaceTime and Skype and will see Grandma and Grandpa again soon.
We spent the fourth of July at Silverwood and the weather could not have been better. While Gabby and Trent loved the rides, I would have to say our favorite part was relaxing in the beach chairs with our feet in the water sipping deliciously refreshing tropical drinks! After the sun went down and the water park closed the amusement park side was exponentially busier with people. We took advantage of the shorter lines, as the kids had already ridden all of the roller coasters and the lines were now long, ending up on the family water rides like Thunder Canyon and the log ride. Needless to say we were soaking wet, but were laughing so hard and had so much fun that even our wet jeans (which we had just changed into) couldn't dampen our spirits! The sun finally set around ten o' clock and the rest of the evening we lay watching the fireworks under the stars. We had not ever been to Silverwood for the fireworks show before, but it was incredible!! The night was clear, and the fireworks literally were right over the top of us. The fireworks looked to be falling down on us, it was incredibly beautiful! Despite being surrounded by hundreds of people and having the children there, it was still romantic! We were able to sneak a kiss under the fireworks and it was magical!! While it is true there are always fireworks when we kiss, this time when we opened our eyes, there were literally fireworks going off!!
Saturday night we were invited to a Spokane Indians baseball game by some friends. We were treated to box seats and a pretty good game. Spokane was playing Eugene and had a chance to tie the game but the third base held the runner back and Eugene ended up winning by one. It was perfect weather for an all American evening of hot dogs, beer and great friends. There also happened to be fireworks after last nights game so we were able to see one more fireworks show before we leave for Tokyo!
